Week 2 – Challenges we face in engaging others
We took a little time to reflect on the challenges we face in engaging others.
– The challenge of language in a fast pace environment – acronyms, jargon & industry specific technical terms
– Working with another leader who differs in how they treat people
– Helping someone overcome their discomfort with growing into a new role
– Working with consistently negative staff, even though space is given
– Overcoming resistance to an engaging activity even though it has just begun
Then we discussed the patterns across these and dug into how big a role making a human connection with others might play in improving some of these experiences.
Teri also emphasized that the book, Belonging, which we are reading in Book Club, has a lot of relevance to this discussion!
