Week 4 – Gathering Wildcard Sesh
Hip hip hooray! We welcomed new studio member, Grace to the community this week. I’m stoked to have new perspectives and fresh faces join us!
It was wildcard week and we covered a lot of ground in the live…
- Grace shared that one of the top challenges she faces in her role is engaging teams who are already feeling over burdened and burnt out. Her strategy is to approach with curiosity, kindness, and a genuine interest in understanding what support the team needs.
- Chris recommended “The Reflective Practitioner” by Donald Schon for those interested in the research that supports the importance of reflective practices. Schon offers a framework for accessing and refining professional knowledge that shaped your decision making.
- Sarah Ross asked the group what markers they look for to alert them when the balance between quality and quantity of how we’re spending our time at work is skewing. You had lots of ideas!
- Inability to focus well on one thing.
- When you’ve met about a topic more than 3 times and zero decisions or movement has occurred.
- Somatic response – get to know how your body responds and then notice.
- Different cultures understand and relate to time differently. American workplaces run off of White Western understandings of time – what if we left room for something else?
