It never ceases to amaze me the rich variety and depth of ideas that come out of our curiosity brainstorms. Kicking off each thematic topic this way really helps Chris and I shape the direction of the remainder of the month. This last Friday we were delighted to have friend of AP Studios, Steven Babitch, join or session. His contributions to the conversation were insightful and interesting – hopefully Steven will become a regular in the Butter Dish!

If you missed the session, catch the replay below and hop in our Miro board and add your ideas!

In the meantime, a smattering of our conversation…

    • Sarah shared Priya Parker’s perspective that understanding and articulating the deeper purpose of any gathering is critical for it’s success. For that and lots more, check out her book, The Art of Gathering.
    • Steven shared his experience in Munich of gathering over the lunch hour for a shared meal and personal connection – every day. In America most of us eat alone at our desks, or feel guilty if we don’t. Why is it that US companies tend to favor transactional gatherings over relational gatherings?
    • Is virtual reality the next frontier in gathering for remote teams? We’re not sure, but there is evidence from MMO (massive multiplayer online) gaming that this modality can curate deep bonds. Check out the Netflix documentary, “The Remarkable Life of Ibelin.”
    • Caralee wondered about the possible impact of age/generation on preference for gathering modalities. While it’s true that the youngest folks in the workforce grew up immersed in computers, recent studies show they are also longing for more personal connections.
