Week 1 – Being Well at Work Curiosity Brainstorm
This month we’re considering what it means to Be Well at Work. After some technical difficulties we dove into a curiosity brainstorm and per usual, we generated lots of insights! Check out the Miro board link below to look them over and add your own.
A few ideas that we spent some time unpacking…
- Sarah noticed that the preponderance of our post-its wouldn’t be considered in “traditional” workplace wellness programs or ideology. Being well at work is much more about relationships, the way we work, and the workplace culture than it is about standing desks and break room snacks.
- Dan called out that an emphasis on the work itself is important. Wellness done well isn’t separate from or in addition to the core objectives and work of an organization.
- Grace pointed out the role of power and hierarchy in being well at work. Those who are calling the shots often have “good wellness” so don’t prioritize those they oversee. Being well doesn’t just trickle down without intention.
- Caralee shared that wellness started to make sense to her when she framed it as being kind to herself. It doesn’t have to get a whole lot more complicated than that.
Sorry that we neglected to drop the Butter link before our session! Are folks interested in getting a calendar reminder for the sessions, so the date and time is protected on your schedule and the link is always close at hand?
